Tour program details
Day 1: arrival in Alghero
Individual arrival of all participants in Alghero in the north-western part of the island, an enchanting old little town which we warmly recommend you to dedicate at least a stroll to savor the historic center and its charming Spanish-styled lanes.
We all meet up at our hotel in the afternoon. Around 7:30 – 6:00 PM we go and pick up the rental bikes (if any) and have a short but important briefing, the time to explain a few simple rules for organizing and synchronizing things, thus ensuring that everyone has a safe holiday.
A typical Italian welcome aperitif will be the right occasion to get to know each other.
Day 2: 220 km
After a lavish breakfast, at 9 we start our Sardinian wandering along superb panoramic coastal roads and exciting mountain routes, looking for lakes and prehistoric remains. We’ll transfer to the inland through twisting mountain routes and some awesome lakes, heading for Barumini where we’ll see the fascinating Nuragic village of Su Nuraxi (Unesco world heritage site) and stop for the night.
Day 3: 220 km
Back to the coast using other amazing mountain roads, we continue our itinerary on one of the most exhilarating and pleasant motorbike roads in Sardinia. We’ll finally in the Sulcis area, that was the first portion of land to emerge when Sardinia loomed out from waters, along with Corsica, during the Hercynian orogeny. We’ll visit one of the most gorgeous caves that characterize Sardinia and then we’ll go to see a delightful ancient Punic-Roman temple before riding back to the coast where we’ll stop in Sant’Antioco for the night.
Day 4: 200 km
Today a spectacular scenic route above the sea used by the leading motorbike manufacturers (including Aprilia and BMW) to film their TV adverts and as test routes. After many turns and wonderful coastal panoramas we arrive for a visit at the ancient Phoenician city of Nora before finally reaching Cagliari, the enchanting Sardinian main town where we’ll conclude the day. We suggest you to have an aperitif in the old castle district, on the bastions, then a nice dinner in the picturesque harbor lanes and finish the evening with some night life at the Poetto, Cagliari’s beach and discos area.
Day 5: 215 km
More classic roads and breathtaking coastal scenery lie in wait, with further fascinating remains of ancient civilizations, before we head over to the eastern coast. A day amid sea and mountain for the pure pleasure of riding surrounded by splendid landscapes. We’ll overnight in Arbatax by the sea, on the east coast.
Day 6: 200 km
Another superb tour beckons out north-east. A great ride awaits on another great road for motorcycles, the legendary Orientale Sarda. We’ll stop at the delightful sea enclave of Cala Gonone to then continue and descend again towards the famous Emerald Coast (Costa Smeralda) where we’ll stop for the night.
Day 7: 285 km
We’ll begin today’s tour between some of the most known localities of the Costa Smeralda frequented by the international jet-set and continue, as usual on beautiful roads, to reload our batteries at the prehistoric energy centres called Giants’ Graves (menhirs). More corners in the moonscape scenery of Valle della Luna until we reach the wonderful small town of Castelsardo on the north coast. We finally go and visit another type of nuraghe before reaching our departure place, Alghero, where we’ll drop off the rented motorcycles by end of the afternoon. A lavish farewell dinner is the perfect conclusion for this great adventure together.
Day 8: departure from Alghero
We say our goodbyes after breakfast, leaving you free to enjoy further the magic of Sardinia, maybe with a heavenly self-contained stay on some resort along the Caribbic-like sea. We are at your complete disposal to give you all indications ad tips to enjoy your stay and help you planning your remaining days in Italy!
