  • Tuscany from Rome motorcycle tour program details

Intended as a real pleasure tour for real moto-tourists, this tour which actually covers the whole Tuscan region is our technically easiest and physically lightest proposal, while granting lots of treats and unforgettable moments. Special highlight is given to gastronomy with the possibility to choose every two evenings the little restaurant where to have dinner, for a taste of the most authentic Italian cuisine in often very impressive and romantic settings.

Day 1: Meeting in Rome (Roma)
We muster in the afternoon in our hotel in Rome and go together to pick up the rental bikes. We all meet up before dinner for a short but important briefing, the time to explain a few simple rules for organizing and synchronizing things, thus ensuring that everyone has a safe holiday that is unforgettable for all the right reasons. Then we’ll break the ice and start forging some group spirit over a classic Italian pre-dinner aperitivo.
Overnight in 4-star hotel in Rome; included meals: D.

    Day 2: 220 km
Our tour begins with a beautiful ride beside Lake Bracciano and a look around the dying town of Civita di Bagnoregio, before venturing into the classic Tuscan landscapes of the Val d’Orcia (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Lunch in a traditional trattoria is included, while you’re free to choose your own eatery in the gorgeous mediaeval town of Montepulciano, deep in wine country, where we overnight.
Overnight in 4-star hotel in area Montepulciano; included meals: B,L.

    Day 3: 160 km
Today promises to be a real classic, with a ride among the famous vineyards and mediaeval hill towns that define Tuscany’s character. We roam through the beautiful Val d’Orcia and the Chianti hills, stopping to explore two absolute gems in this breathtaking area, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites: magnificent Siena and the pocket-sized masterpiece that is Pienza. The day concludes in the most sumptuous and romantic of all Italian cities: Florence. Time is a relative concept here, where every nook and byway takes you back to the court of the Medici with the Italian Renaissance in its glorious pomp. We spend two nights here.
Overnight in 4-star hotel in Florence; included meals: B, D.

    Day 4: 240 km
A great ride awaits through the Apennine mountains of Tuscany and Emilia Romagna. The motorcycling feast is topped off by two especially evocative visits to two spiritual havens nestling in the ancient forest: a monastery where St Francis spent much of his life, and Camaldoli Hermitage, where the tranquil atmosphere is balm for the soul. Then, to restore your equilibrium with some bodily sustenance, we tuck into a hearty mountaineers’ lunch of game and mushrooms. Back at base, you’re free to find your own place for dinner in Florence.
Overnight in 4-star hotel in Florence; included meals: B, L.

    Day 5: 200 km
There are two more UNESCO World Heritage Sites on the menu today. First is the beautiful mediaeval town of Lucca with its magnificent Renaissance heritage, notably the fully intact city walls. Next we head for Pisa to visit Piazza dei Miracoli and the famous Leaning Tower, not forgetting the cathedral, baptistery and monumental cemetery. To conclude the day, we chug into the timeless mediaeval gem that is Volterra, our billet for the night.
Overnight in 4-star hotel in Volterra; included meals: B, D.

    Day 6: 220 km
Tuscany’s coast is as lovely as its mountains, so it would be a shame not to have a day by the sea. So today we’ll be exploring the south-west of the region, starting with the impressive abbey ruins of San Galgano and a selection of the pretty villages freckling the fine landscape. A traditional Tuscan lunch is included, and you’re free to choose your restaurant in the magical atmosphere of Pitigliano for dinner.
Overnight in 4-star hotel in Pitigliano; included meals: B, L.

    Day 7: 230 km
This is the last day of our tour and – like all the others – it’s packed with great biking and fascinating sights. Starting from the fairy-tale cliff-top village of Pitigliano and amid an endless supply of hills, bends and stunning scenery, including an important UNESCO-listed Etruscan necropolis. The route is a delight for the eyes and a thrill for the spirit, and it leads us back where we began, to our hotel in Rome. After returning the hire bikes, we round off our adventure together with a worthy farewell evening meal.
Overnight in 4-star hotel in Rome; included meals: B, D.

    Day 8: Farewells in Rome
We say our goodbyes after breakfast, leaving you free to go home or explore further the magic of Italy on your own. There are plenty of opportunities to continue your trip that we can help you planning!
    Included meals: B.

    Tuscany

    Video on Pisa

The cradle of the Italian Renaissance, Tuscany has a unique, spectacular appeal. It enshrines thousands of artworks, marvelous villas once owned by the Medici family, perfectly preserved burgs (such as San Gimignano, Volterra, Montalcino and many others) and seemingly impossible constructions like the town of Pitigliano, as well as important remains of bygone ages, specifically the Etruscan and Roman civilizations. All in all, it has a wealth of history and picture-perfect landscapes unrivaled anywhere in the world.

It almost seems that time has stood still in the many medieval villages, ancient jewels that lend this breathtaking region the atmosphere and artistic beauty of a past now remote.
Each old palazzo, cathedral, or church bears the mark of some major artist from the Middle Ages or the Renaissance.
The richness of the artistic heritage gathered in the most important cities, primarily Florence (not forgetting Siena, Pisa, Lucca and many more), but also scattered all over the territory, makes Tuscany an undisputed highlight of the worldwide travel scene. And when it comes to the landscape and the natural environment – whether it’s the Siena Crests, the Val d’Orcia, the Garfagnana area, the Chianti Hills or the Maremma – their spectacular beauty cannot fail to enthrall.

In this area, nature has many faces, starting from the elegant Tuscan seaside up to the unspoiled Apuan Alps. Yet the most characteristic scenery, for us, is a harmonious blend of natural beauty with the enchanting view of some medieval burg, rural chapel, or impressive monastery.

Our tour in this marvelous area will take us through a selection of outstanding sights hand-picked from the panoply of spectacular places it contains. Like every other tour in our program, the RIDE itself will be exciting, because the route is designed around the turns, the surface, and the view offered by the individual roads – don’t forget that motorbike holidays are what we’re all about! But for this one, we have put particular emphasis on the DISCOVERY, with many visits on foot, and the DOLCE VITA, dedicating special attention to food and wine, with various opportunities to follow your nose and treat yourself to Tuscany’s excellent culinary repertoire. Another special feature is the ACCOMMODATION in charming historic buildings that can be found only in Italy.
